英國牛津大學 – 靜觀中心三位學者Mark Williams,Zindel Segal 及 JohnTeasdale 於二零零二年 創辦了「靜觀基礎認知療法」(MBCT),將靜觀練習結合了心理學的「認知治療」,為抑鬱症復發的人士提供了全新的團體治療。此療法獲得英國國家優質臨床治療學院 (National Institute for Clinical Excellence, 2004) 認可為有效防止抑鬱症復發的治療方法。由於只需八星期,更沒有藥物的副作用,故課程一直都深受歡迎。近年它亦被應用在治療焦慮症、飲食失調症等等其他症狀。在2020年,英國牛津靜觀中心發展了新的課程「靜觀生活課程」( Mindfulness for Life ),將治療當中的精髓,推廣給社會大眾,促進精神健康。
Founded in 2002 by scholars Mark Williams, Zindel Segal, and John Teasdale, "Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy" (MBCT) integrates mindfulness practices with cognitive therapy to offer a new group treatment for people at risk of depression relapse. This therapy has been recognized by the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (2004) as an effective method to prevent relapse into depression. Lasting only eight weeks and without the side effects of medication, the course has gained great popularity. Recently, it has also been used to treat anxiety disorders, eating disorders, and other symptoms. In 2020, the Oxford Mindfulness Centre developed a new course, "Mindfulness for Life," aimed at promoting mental health in the community, capturing the essence of the therapy.
